The ethical principles of the Health Tourism Journal are strictly aligned with international academic standards to ensure the highest quality of scientific publishing.

1. Ethical Standards and COPE Compliance

  • Ethical Standards and COPE Compliance: Health Tourism Journal is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. The journal strictly adheres to the principles, guidelines, and core practices defined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The editorial board, reviewers, and authors are expected to comply with these international standards of ethical behavior.

  • Ethical Responsibilities for Reviewers and Authors: The ethical responsibilities of referees and authors carry significant weight and should be upheld strictly with the International Academic Publication Standards (IAPS). It is crucial that the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) rules, along with the rules specified in our journal’s ethical guidelines, are diligently followed. Editors, referees, and authors of our journal are expected to adhere to COPE, ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), and other similar international standards, emphasizing the global nature of our responsibilities.

2. Plagiarism Policy

All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using specialized software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate) during the initial assessment. Manuscripts exhibiting a similarity index exceeding 15% (excluding references) or showing evidence of patch-writing or uncredited text reuse will be rejected immediately.

3. AI Usage Policy in Academic Articles

  • AI Tool Usage Policy: Authors must declare the scope and use of any Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools or LLMs in the preparation or writing of the manuscript. AI cannot be listed as an author or co-author.

  • AI Usage Policy in Academic Articles: Artificial intelligence tools in articles submitted to our journal should be limited to language editing and data analysis. If artificial intelligence is used more extensively, this must be clearly stated in the article. This section promotes academic transparency by acknowledging all contributors, including AI tools. For the content produced with artificial intelligence in the articles submitted to our journal not to be accepted as plagiarism, the authors must declare their contribution rates to the article. If these declarations are missing, the article will not be evaluated.

4. Required Declarations from Authors

Authors must confirm and upload the following declarations upon submission:

  • Originality: Authors must guarantee that the manuscript is entirely original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration elsewhere.

  • No Conflict of Interest: Authors must explicitly disclose any financial or personal relationships with individuals or organizations that could inappropriately influence or bias their work. If none exist, a “No Conflict of Interest” statement must be included.

  • Sources of Funding: Authors must state all sources of institutional, private, or corporate financial support received for the research or preparation of the article.

  • Ghostwriting Policy: Individual co-authors must clearly specify their individual contributions to the creation of the scientific article to eliminate unethical co-authorship practices.
