AUTHOR GUIDELINES & WRITING RULES

Health Tourism Journal: Official Author Guidelines

The Health Tourism Journal provides the following comprehensive guidelines for authors to ensure high academic standards and ethical publishing practices.

1. General Rules & Submission Requirements

  • Language and Quality: The journal accepts submissions exclusively in English. All sentences must adhere to proper grammar and spelling rules.

  • Originality: Manuscripts must not have been previously published or concurrently submitted for publication elsewhere.

  • Plagiarism & Similarity Policy: Authors must analyze their manuscripts using either Turnitin or iThenticate before submission. The overall similarity rate must not exceed 15%.

  • Submission Channel: Articles can be submitted online via our official website: healthtourismjournal.com.

2. General Formatting

Manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

  • Page Layout: A4 size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.

  • Typography: The entire text, including the abstract and references, must be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font size.

  • Spacing: 1.15 line spacing with 6-point spacing after paragraphs.

3. Title Page and Author Information

To ensure the integrity of the double-blind peer review process, the main manuscript file must not contain any author names, affiliations, or identifying information.

A separate Title Page must be uploaded during submission, containing:

  • The full title of the manuscript

  • Authors’ full names and institutional affiliations

  • ORCID IDs

  • The email address of the corresponding author

4. Abstract and Keywords

Every manuscript must include a structured English abstract of 150 to 250 words. The abstract should concisely state the purpose of the study, methodology, principal findings, and major conclusions. Beneath the abstract, 3 to 5 keywords must be provided, separated by commas, representing the core concepts of the paper.

5. Structure of the Manuscript

Original research papers should generally follow the standard IMRAD structure:

  • Introduction

  • Methodology

  • Results

  • Discussion & Conclusion

Headings should be clearly defined and numbered hierarchically if necessary.

6. Citation and Reference Style

Health Tourism Journal adopts the APA 7th Edition (American Psychological Association) referencing style. Submitted articles must strictly adhere to publication ethics, and proper citations must be provided for all sources used. All references must include active DOI links wherever available.

  • In-text citation example: (Gülşen, 2026) or Gülşen (2026) stated that…

  • Journal article reference example: Author, A. A., & Author, B. B. (Year). Title of the article. Journal Title, Volume(Issue), Page range. https://doi.org/xxxxxx

Ethical Principles and Publication Policy of Health Tourism Journal

The ethical principles of the Health Tourism Journal are strictly aligned with international academic standards to ensure the highest quality of scientific publishing.

Ethical Responsibilities for Reviewers and Authors

The ethical responsibilities of referees and authors carry significant weight and should be upheld strictly with the International Academic Publication Standards (IAPS). It is crucial that the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) rules, along with the rules specified in our journal’s ethical guidelines, are diligently followed.

Editors, referees, and authors of our journal are expected to adhere to COPE, ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors), and other similar international standards, emphasizing the global nature of our responsibilities.

AI Usage Policy in Academic Articles

Artificial intelligence tools in articles submitted to our journal should be limited to language editing and data analysis. If artificial intelligence is used more extensively, this must be clearly stated in the article. This section promotes academic transparency by acknowledging all contributors, including AI tools.

For the content produced with artificial intelligence in the articles submitted to our journal not to be accepted as plagiarism, the authors must declare their contribution rates to the article. If these declarations are missing, the article will not be evaluated.

Publication Policy

Publication Policy of Health Tourism Journal

The Health Tourism Journal (founded in January 2025) follows a rigorous publication policy to ensure academic excellence in the field of health, wellness, and medical tourism research.

Submission Cycles and Deadlines

  1. Publication Frequency: The journal is published twice a year (June and December). Each issue contains five original articles.
  2. Deadlines: For the June issue, submissions must be completed by the end of April. For the December issue, by the end of October.

Peer Review and Plagiarism Policy

  1. Peer Review Process: Manuscripts undergo a rigorous double-masked peer review by a minimum of two reviewers.
  2. Plagiarism Screening: All manuscripts are subject to screening via Turnitin or iThenticate. The similarity index must not exceed 15%.

Ethical Requirements and Rights

  1. Ethical Approval: Explicit approval details must be included within the methodology section for studies necessitating ethical approval.
  2. Publication Rights: All publication rights are vested in the journal. Articles may not be republished without appropriate citation.
